Position: • Commercial Manager

Company: • Parsons Brinckerhoff Africa (Pty) Ltd – Medupi Power Plant Project

Provide support to the Project Director for all commercial aspects of the project


Minimum Requirements

BSC degree in relevant commercial discipline.
At least 10years experience in a similar commercial role.
Solid knowledge of and experience in a commercial function, including deep knowledge of the market, clients and competitors.
Strong knowledge and experience of a variety of systems and tools available to support decision making in a commercial environment, including but not limited to resource planning, scheduling, cost estimating, cost control and risk management.
Strong systems thinking skills and the ability to prioritize activities to support aggressive development & growth plans effectively.
Knowledge of and experience with the appropriate commercial management tools to deliver successful projects on behalf of the Project manager.
Leadership skills and the ability to motivate staff to excel.
Ability to manage others effectively and to work in a team.
Ability to interact with and influence clients, project managers, government organizations, and other external and internal stakeholders.
Assertive and persuasive communicator with a strong grasp of business challenges and issues.
Comfortable and articulate communicator with clients and prospective clients.
Ability to work under pressure.


Job Specification

Commercially manage the Term Contract together with all subsequent Task Orders including but not limited to drafting of contractual correspondence, early warning notices, notifying of events for which a Compensation Event is required, providing Quotations for Compensation Events and notifying changes to the Prices when required.
Maintain direct liaison and coordinate with the Employer’s contracts management personnel.
Ensure compliance with all time based deliverables in all PBA Task Orders with the Employer.
Co-ordinate and review all Quotations (rate approvals) and ensure all Task Orders, Quotations, and other contractual support provided to the Project are in accordance with current policies and procedures and satisfy PBA business case (cost recovery, profit, etc.).
Manage all invoicing, backup data, consistent with the Term Contract and Task Orders and ensure compliance with audit standards; raise Purchase Orders as necessary in accordance with PBA’s policies and procedures; review and manage intercompany Purchase Orders.
Manage all requests for support submitted by the Employer; ensuring all PB financial liabilities are adequately covered; maintain direct liaison and coordinate with PBA project accounting group.
Manage input and actions associated with the monthly PBA Medupi business unit meeting.
Prepare monthly budget forecasts.
Assist where required with all Project related commercial issues between PBA and other PB or Balfour Beatty OpCo’s.
Procure all Sub-Consultant’s in accordance with PBA’s policies and procedures.
Maintain adequate records.
