Direct Marketing Manager Jobs

Develop and implement marketing strategies

  • Translate business strategy into marketing plan with clear objectives for the marketing area, aimed at achieving business disbursement and booking targets, improving profitability, growing the customer base and offering excellent customer service
  • Develop and implement multichannel (e.g. mail, sms, email, ussd, mobi, web, phone) acquisition strategies to optimise the number of customers on book at the lowest cost per name
  • Develop and implement multichannel strategies and generate new opportunities to maximize the business’ potential
  • Reduce customer attrition rates through the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies
  • Develop & implement a test calendar to shape future strategies
Manage direct mail campaigns (CRM and Test mailings)

 

  • Manage and implement on-going acquisition (including test campaigns), retention and reactivation direct mail campaigns
  • Direct, edit and manage sign-off all creative development and execution of campaign materials, such as posters, leaflets, emails, sms, statements, letters, etc
  • Oversee the campaign production process to ensure timeous and accurate delivery of direct marketing campaigns into all channels
  • Evolve direct marketing campaigns to meet a changing business environment, objectives and test results
  • Enable effective customer response through integrated, multiple channels
  • Work closely together with business analysts to develop business cases for testing scenarios, forecasting and general direct marketing analysis
  • Use marketing calendar effectively to plan and prioritise work for self and team

 

Campaign analysis

 

  • Continuously work with the Business Intelligence/analytics team to analyse results of campaigns and communicate recommendations and initiate corrective action accordingly
  • Understand and drive customer behaviour through data analysis and industry understanding
  • Manage, track and measure campaigns and communicate to all stakeholders
  • Manage target market analysis and selections

 

Customer service

 

  • Manage customer service response protocol to ensure all responses to customer’s queries and complaints (telephonic, online, email) are appropriate, timeous and consistent
  • Communicate with the operations area to ensure that all agents are apprised of new campaigns timeously and that required product training has been completed

 

Systems and processes

 

  • Reassess current systems and processes and propose enhancements for optimisation in the area
  • Work with analytics to design, develop and implement reporting templates and systems within the scope of direct customer marketing

 

Competitor and customer research

 

  • Ensure FinChoice is up to date with the latest marketing activities conducted by competitors (e.g. products, pricing, channels, marketing methods, customer target segments)
  • Benchmark against competitors locally and internationally to ensure best practice
  • Continuously research, understand and be aware of customer intentions and market trends
  • Provide continuous updates and recommendations to management regarding marketing trends in the financial services arena

 

Reporting

 

  • Work with analytics to produce monthly reports to support the analysis of campaign performance, make recommendations and distribute to the business in a timeous manner

 

Budget management

 

  • Responsible for the management of campaign budgets and track accordingly
  • Strategically manage the Ad spend budget with a view to reducing cost
  • Ensure the Ad spend marketing efficiencies are achieved

 

Management of people

 

  • Motivate and influence team to reach set targets
  • Ensure team members have clear and tangible goals which are assessed bi-annually through the KPA performance management process
  • Manage team of 3-4 direct reports, and various in-direct staff who contribute skills from within the HomeChoice Group (e.g. designers, copywriters)
  • Hold regular one-on-one meetings with members of the team to identify any areas of concerns and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Mentor staff and identify needs and develop career growth plans
  • Provide effective leadership to team members in order to reduce turnover and achieve optimal efficiency of the department
  • Ensure team works effectively with individuals across the business to gain knowledge on strategies, business processes to improve overall profitability and customer service

 

Other

 

  • Assist on a variety of ad-hoc marketing and communication initiatives, as needed and instructed by the Exco

 

 
Requirements:
Qualifications & Accreditations

 

  • 3 Years relevant Tertiary qualification

Experience & Skills

 

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a direct marketing role, preferably in the financial services market, with proven success in the development and execution of direct marketing campaigns across multiple channels
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation governing the finance industry
  • Well experienced in the development of creative and effective direct marketing campaigns with a great understanding of production management
  • Proven success in interpreting complex statistical information, analysing results and finding solutions in an evolving market
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel (Advance) and MS PowerPoint
  • Experience within an agency environment advantageous
