Vacancy Details

Developer of high-tech instrumentation, electronics and mechanical systems seeks to employ a suitably qualified Mechanical Design Technologist to join their professional team. Based in SUTHERLAND, Northern Cape.

 

For the position you would be required to have:

• Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• 5 Years of experience in a technically complex environment
• Extensive exposure to practical aspects of electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems
• Experience with Siemens NX CAD and Siemens TeamCenter (TC)
• Proficiency in doing data-packs to BS8888 standards and/or ISO 10110
• Strong knowledge of metrology and how to apply this practically for precision requirements
• Strong knowledge of CAD systems, and it’s use within a PLM system
• Strong knowledge of various manufacturing methods for precision applications

 

Responsibilities would include you to:

• Update CAD models and drawings to reflect the physical equipment
• Create CAD models and drawings of physical plant and equipment where they do not exist
• Conceptualize and develop new design solutions taking certain hardware through it’s full lifecycle
• Drive product lifecycle management (PLM) strategy (with an emphasis on implementation), based on company requirements to align with global best practices
• Report on activities
• Write and/or contribute to international conference papers.
• Do standby duties
