About the job:

CSIR Consulting and Analytical Services (CAS) unit has vacancies for Project Managers in the Municipal Service Delivery business area that supports local government with implementation support. These positions are based in Durban.

 

Key responsibilities:

Do contract management.
Identify project requirements with a team-based approach.
Establish clear and achievable objectives.
Balance the competing demands for quality, scope, time and cost.
Adapt the specifications, plans and approach to the different concerns and expectations of the various stakeholders (handling all possible conflict situations).
Initiate, plan, monitor, control and complete a portfolio of projects.
Monitor and control project progress including regular consolidation of financial data.
Generate and present projects progress reports as and when required.
Ensure that high levels of data integrity are maintained on all CSIR systems.
Ensure that all project documentation is filed appropriately and accessible at all times.
Manage of project level budgeting.
Do financial administration.
Do stakeholder management.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience:

A Bachelor’s degree or any tertiary qualification deemed to be equivalent by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
Formal qualification in project management.
Three to five years’ experience in project management.
Ability to work well in a team.
Ability to interpret client needs and requirements and scope the activities.
Ability to manage and report effectively on activities according to approved project plan.
Ability to work across project boundaries and with complex projects.
Ability to budget affectively.
Excellent report writing skills.
Integration and synthesis of project results at high levels.
Good organisational, communication and people skills.
Conflict management skills.
Full computer literacy and competency (MS Office including MS Projects).
Experience in ensuring implementation of multi-disciplinary project plans/strategies across organisational boundaries.
Excellent team and stakeholder communication.
