Africa Health Research Institute has an exciting opportunity for a project manager to join their Population Research Division. The incumbent will be based at both the AHRI sites which are Durban and Mtubatuba.

Job Summary:
The Project manager is responsible for work related to the management and oversight of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project to implement a set of evidence-based interventions to improve TB, HIV and Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) outcomes based on the effective use of information from the KZN Health Data Warehouse.

The Project manager will work with the Public health specialist, PI and a multi-disciplinary team to manage the grant activities and liaise with project partners. They will be responsible for the management and oversight of grant activities and facilitate the interface between the different departments e.g. AHRI, DoH, BMGF. They will assist with planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the grant objectives (below)

Grant Objectives:
1. Address the technical, behavioural, and organisational impediments to effective data utilisation in KZN DoH
2. Improve data analytics, availability and use for operational planning, resource allocation and monitoring and evaluating outcomes
3. Entrench data-driven continuous quality improvement methods to improving health outcomes at facility, sub-district, district and provincial levels
4. Implement real-time data use to link and retain PWTB and PLHIV in care and improve MNCH outcomes
5. Implement data-driven approaches to strengthen implementation of new policies

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Masters degree in public health or equivalent
2. Must possess a valid South African Code B Driver’s License.

Minimum Experience:

1. Minimum of 5 years related experience;
2. Minimum of 3 years experience in project management, including management of teams, management of budgets
3. Experience in the health sector for example HIV/TB programme initiatives, home based care, or other health related activities;
4. Report writing experience
5. Experience in statistics/quantitative analysis and/or data management
