Job Title: Financial Administrator
Job Location: Durban
Salary: Up to R 12 000 per month
Start Date: 15 July 2018
Reports to: Financial Manager and CEO

The purpose of the position is to provide financial and administrative support to Africa! Ignite’s team.

Responsibilities:

General Bookkeeping and financial administration

  • Capture all cashbooks in Pastel
  • Assist with budgets and donor reports by pulling from Pastel
  • Capture and record all expense claims
  • Maintain and update accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals for account payables, account receivables and payroll
  • Perform all banking duties as required
  • Purchase supplies and assets as authorised by management
  • Capture tax invoices on Pastel
  • Capture stock on Pastel
  • Monitor office supply levels and reorder as necessary
  • Tag and monitor fixed assets
  • Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner
  • Pay any debt as it comes due for payment
  • Issue invoices to customers
  • Maintain the petty cash fund
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system including all internal and external
  • Transfers and payments
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain the annual budget
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Prepare where necessary Excel spreadsheets for budgets to funders
  • Assign transactions into relevant projects
  • Capture and reconcile all bank accounts statements
  • Capture and record all transfers, income and expense accounts
  • Data capturing
  • Liase with bank
  • Payroll/ VAT
  • Donor reports

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Provide financial reports to the Finance Manager by the 7th of every subsequent month, for the previous month

Requirements:

  • Full driver license holder
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision for their role with the organisation
  • Have a proven capacity to be an active member of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a team context
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to take constructive criticism
  • Adaptability / flexibility
  • Ability to follow and carry out set tasks/assignments
  • Maintain/continue established working practice
  • Ability to relate to groups of differing ability, age and culture
  • Ability to adapt quickly and take responsibility when required to
  • Diligent, hardworking, trustworthy and able to function in a team environment
  • Familiar with Pastel accounting software and able to organise and execute tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to develop efficient systems that will improve our financial department and provide adequate financial reports for our managers and Directors
