To diagnose, repair and service the Company’s fleet of ground support equipment (GSE) and motor vehicles in accordance with the Company and Manufacturers work specifications, and compliance to regulatory authorities.

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Ground Services Equipment (GSE) Technician

Job Summary:
Carry out routine preventive maintenance and basic corrective maintenance of Ground Support Equipment (GSE)

Carry out repairs according to established maintenance plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Report ad-hoc repairs to officers and supervisors

Provide updates on GSE functionality

Operate GSE to perform ramp operations

Maintain a hazard-free environment during ramp operations

Respond to real-time operational information using technological devices

Retract GSE from ERA to ESA

Clear ERA from FOD, obstacles and/or spillages

Diagnosis, repair and servicing the Air Botswana fleet of GSE and vehicles in accordance with Air Botswana and manufacturers work specifications

Ensuring daily/weekly & monthly GSE and vehicles checks, and inspections are carried according to Air Botswana quality and safety standards.

Performs mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance as per schedule on company fleet of GSE and vehicles.

Liaising with the Ground Services and other departments teams in order to maintain, and effectively facilitate the preventative maintenance program.

Ensuring all work is carried out observing safe working practices of self and others.

Responds to out of hours GSE & motor vehicles emergencies as and when required.

Comply with the Safety and Security requirements of Air Botswana and CAAB at all times as Safety and Security is the responsibility of each employee.

Compliance with all safety and security policies and procedures as safety and security is the responsibility of each employee.

Adherence to all workshop parts, tools and equipment SOPs including Safety, Health and environmental rules and practices.

Maintaining good relationship with other personnel and promotion of teamwork.

Ensures that all safety and loss control standards (Safety, Health and Environmental) contained in the Corporation’s standards are adhered to.

Identify SSQS and/or risks and escalates to management to mitigate or manage identified risks

Identify and report breaches of safety and/or security standards in the workplace

Maintains continuous improvement mindset to improve SSQS and/or risk in the own are of work and related workplace

Achieve full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in operations and area of work (Customer Airlines Handling)

Supports the Department’s performance goals and takes corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of business objectives

Requirements:
Education:

•A recognized Diploma in Mechanical engineering, Automobile or equivalent.

•Clean Driver’s License required and certification of completion in one of the following trades: Heavy duty/Commercial or Automotive mechanic license. Certification must be kept in good standing.

•Knowledge of computer maintenance program, e.g. Maximo and Microsoft Office

Experience:

•A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience of which 1 should have been in a similar role and with accident free maintenance of GSE and/or Heavy-Duty motor vehicles

•At least Six (6) months on-the-job training certification in safe airside GSE operation and driving vehicles.
