Job Title: Data Manager(TS/DM Siyenza/GR)

Specification
A Data Manager is being recruited for the following role: Data Manager: Ops Reporting (Siyenza)

The Data Manager will be required to improve the data collection, verification, processing, validation, reporting and archiving of data and information for Operational Reporting (supporting Siyenza / Phuthuma reporting requirements).

Work Description
The Data Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the collection and submission of high quality and timely data. The Data Manager is responsible for the following:
•Overseeing data capturing and filing
•Monitoring employees and ensuring continuous quality improvement
•Quality control and monitoring of the data capture process
•Troubleshooting with database and data entry checks, using reports to improve site performance
•Streamlining of data management procedures
•Training/mentoring of staff.

Technical Work Responsibilities
•Oversee the collection and submission of quality and timely data through implementing rigorous quality controls and prioritisation of data integrity
•Manage the Data teams to ensure that they are suitably trained, coached and mentored, supervising up to 5 – 10 staff members.
•Manage the data validation plan. Create and approve validation checks and reports necessary to ensure high quality and consistent data
•Maintain the data completion manuals which should correspond with the instructions to the sites and the data entry instructions.
•Review and contribute to the development of Aurum’s data management SOP’s, guidelines and operational manuals.
•Complete tasks for other units within Reporting including DATIM Reporting, CHTS and other teams as required.
•Implement the data management SOP’s and guidelines
•A track record of methodical work and meticulous attention to detail.
•Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
•Ability to speak effectively before groups of stakeholders or employees from other organizations
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts and draw valid conclusions.
•Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
•Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
•Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
•An ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff from all levels.

Requirements
YOU SHOULD HAVE:
Qualification
•Grade 12 or NQF 4 Qualification
•Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is preferred

Work Experience:
•At least 5 years data management experience
•Basic Database development and analytical skills
•At least 5 years’ experience in the health industry or research environment

Advantageous experience
•Experience with data collection processes in Department of Health facilities and knowledge of DOH / PEPFAR indicators is desirable

Requirements
•Willing to work overtime, weekends and/or irregular hours. This position is supporting key functions and frequently requires working irregular hours and being able to have a flexible home life and work-life balance.
•Ability to work accurately under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple concurrent reporting demands.
•Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
•Ability to communicate data and information matters to non-technical and IT conversant Employees
•Familiarity/understanding of relational databases and at least one data management system
•Understanding/experience with project management
•Understanding of HIV/AIDS and TB
•Valid Driver’s license
•Own transport
•Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land or air, if required
•Excellent Excel skills and proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spread sheet, graphics
•Microsoft Office Suite as an end user
•SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa

NB: Non – South African citizens must have a valid work-permit
