Job Title: Management Accountant: PE (FIN/JVR11)

Job Summary:
The jobholder will maintian the integrity of the financial accounting function in accordance with sound accounting practices, company policy and legislative requirements. To perform due diligences in respect of new business; to facilitate financial integration of new acquisitions and provide financial support to subsidiaries.

We have to get serious for a bit. We need:
•Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification, i.e. (B Com Accounting and/or Management Accounting)
•Honors Degree / Articles strongly recommended
•2-3 years’ relevant financial experience
•Excellent administration skills
•Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
•Strong communication skills
•Ability to perform under pressure
•Good problem-solving skills
•Good time-management skills
•Good conflict management skills
•Strong computer literacy

Competencies:
•Knowledge of General Accounting Principles (GAAP)
•Knowledge of relevant legislation
•Knowledge of Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
•Knowledge of budgeting processes
•Understanding financial accounting and treasury
•Understanding of computerised financial systems

Key reponsibilities of this role:
•Financial management
oDevelop and maintain financial accounting processes and procedures
oImplement and maintain sound internal controls
oOversee the management accounting and internal control processes and procedures
oIdentify financial accounting risks and develop and implement mitigating strategies
oAttend to audit queries

•Budgeting:
oEstablish and maintain a budgeting system and assist with setting up the planning parameters
oManage and control the annual planning and budgeting process
oPrepare the budget
oInterface and train users regularly regarding budget control and variance reports

•Financial administration:
oPrepare statutory returns (i.e. VAT, PAYE, SDL and RSC)
oVerify the General Ledger, accruals and control accounts
oReview local reconciliations before payments can be made
oReview Creditors on a monthly basis
oPrepare journal file and financial month-end pack
oVerify and authorise Forex differences
oReview alignment of contractual payment conditions with budgets and forecasts
oControl commitments against budget
oManage cost control workflow
oEnsure that work measurements are correctly accrued and accredited

•Financial reporting:
oReport on all cost activities (e.g. budget, forecasts) and on work in progress in line with company policies, legislation and GAAP
oReport on variances between budgets, commitments and expenditure
oAssist with refining and enhancing financial reporting for the organisation
oImplement reporting software

•Leadership:
oManage the designated area within time and budget
oIdentify and timeously address problems and opportunities
oProvide direction in respect of decision making
oFacilitate and resolve conflicting issues or requirements
oEnsure compliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements and internationally accepted environmental, health, safety and
quality standards

•Due diligence:
oTo perform due diligences on business to be acquired
oTo build financials models for valuation purposes
oTo provide inputs on business valuations
oTo keep complete due diligence records

•Trademarks/Company secretarial records
oTrademarks/Company secretarial records
