A permanent position exists within the Financial Management Unit for the Manager: Financial Management based at the Head Office in Sandton. The position Incumbent will report to the Head of Financial Management.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of Annual Financial Statements and Consolidated Group Annual Financial Statements
Ensuring that Annual Financial Statements and Group AFS comply with IFRS and any other relevant legislation
Ensure that all internal subsidiaries financial statements are timeously prepared and comply with IFRS
Oversee the following sections within Financial Management:
Invoice Management, Travel Management and the Accounting for Money Market and Foreign Loans
Understand fully the functioning of the SAP system and experience in CaseWare Working Papers would be an advantage;
Enhance usage of the systems, continuously ensure that systems operate efficiently and effectively;
Review and identify any weakness in the current processes, systems and procedures and make enhancements to these;
Liaising with both internal and external auditors
Assist in preparation of the following financial reports
Monthly variance analysis
Quarterly reports to EXCO and the Board
Annual Consolidated Financial Statements
Interim Consolidated Financial Statements
Perform ad-hoc tasks for Head of Department and other departments
Client Care – provide good standard of customer service internal and external clients. Exceed customer expectations
Perform management functions including: Team spirit, communication ,discipline, training and development
Supporting and driving Innovation in the team
Ensuring that Annual Financial Statements and Group AFS comply with IFRS and any other relevant legislation
Ensure that all internal subsidiaries financial statements are timeously prepared and comply with IFRS
Assist in preparation of Annual Financial Statements and Consolidated Group Annual Financial Statements
Industry standards, technology trends and best practices
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
CA(SA)
3 or more years post articles experience in a financial reporting role, people and performance management
Post graduate qualification in finance (e.g. MBA, MBL or CFA).
Microsoft Office, SAP, CaseWare Working Papers, IFRS
Experience in analysing and interpretation of financial statements
Should have excellent financial modelling skills.
Understand fully the functioning of the SAP system, enhance usage of the system and continuously ensure that systems operate efficiently and effective
3 or more years post articles experience in a financial reporting role, exposure to the SAP environment, people and performance management and IFRS
Experience in assessing credit risk and the economic viability of businesses and/or projects.
Update systems and procedures documents for approval by Systems and Procedures Committee
Competences
Ability to work independently and to perform under pressure.
Should have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Liaising with both internal and external auditors
Good negotiating and leadership skills
Ability to assist in preparation of monthly variance analysis reports, Quarterly reports to EXCO and the Board and Annual Consolidated FS
Assist in budget planning and management
