Responsibilities:
Software development leadership
Manages multiple projects at the same time.
Keep up to date with the latest development software trends and best practice.
Represents Software Development at the Committee Meetings.
Ensure best practice procedures and processes are followed when it comes to software development.
Ensure detailed documentation procedures are implemented and maintained for all software development projects.
Ensure that best-practice multi-phased testing procedures (including user acceptance testing) are followed prior to the roll-out of software projects and/or changes in live environments.
Implement change management strategies to facilitate the successful roll-out of projects.
Provide specialised user support for in-house developed software (issues logged via the JIRA Helpdesk).
Tracking Data Warehouse Management.
Tracking Project Support.
IT Governance
Engage in identifying, preparing, and executing business goals with senior management.
Data Protection
POPI
International data protection compliance.
Ensure data is handled, transferred, and processed according to legal and company guidelines.
Network infrastructure
Maintain and optimize local and cloud-based company networks and servers.
Security
Responsible for device and password management.
Oversee data backup and system security operations (e.g., user authorization, firewalls).
Storage management.
Hardware Infrastructure
Manage installations, upgrades, and configurations of hardware.
Technical Management
Jira Administration.
Assess system performance and recommend improvements.
Resolve operational issues escalated to IT management.
Provide support and guidance to stakeholders via JIRA help desk.
IT Costs Management
Manage budgets and expenditure of relevant IT cost areas.
Manage contracts with vendors (e.g., development platforms, telecommunication companies, password managers) and software licenses.
IT policies and procedures
Develop and maintain best practice IT policies and procedures; including best practice.
Software Development policies and procedures.
Team Management
Manage a team of Software developers, Solutions Architects and Technicians.
Represent IT at IT Steering Committee Meetings.
Lead the Software development team in the design, development, coding, testing, implementation and debugging of all software infrastructure.
Sets attainable goals for team members in order to ensure high levels of productivity, quality and timely project delivery.
Provides guidance to team members and ensure that the highest development standards are achieved.
