Our client in the LOGISTICS field is looking for an Operations Manager to oversee daily operations of local deliveries making sure that all the deliveries of freight are carried out according to customer service levels agreements through intelligent planning.


Minimum Requirements
3 year qualification in logistics/B.Com/Operational management
5-8 years experience in logistics operations with:At least 2 – 3 years of which should be at a supervisory level


Advanced Knowlwdge in:-
HR Policies and procedures
Knowledge of the logistics industry
Knowledge of internal policies and procedures

Job Specification

Manage Daily Operations
Ensure that the hand over from the Nightshift Manager takes place each morning
Ensure that priorities are identified in order to be auctioned in the day
Sign off on SOP’s
Check reports
Ensure that shortages are identified and recorded
Ensure that all inbound freight from various customers are received
Ensure that reports are run from the system and check it against the actual freight
Ensure that all freight go through the volumizer
Ensure that all freight are scanned and processed
Ensure proper planning in order to ensure that there are sufficient vehicles to transport freight
Ensure customers are informed of late deliveries
Ensure that unassigned reports are run and auctioned effectively to maintain service levels
Ensure that floor stocklist reports are run to ensure that freight is delivered to the right destinations
Investigate unscanned freight after analysing exception report
Ensure that all freight go through the x-ray machine before being loaded onto trucks to ensure that no hazardous freight are loaded
Ensure that returns are properly manage


Customer Service
Develop an understanding of customer’s needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met
Address customer dissatisfaction by efficiently and satisfactorily resolving issues
Build and maintain solid relationships with customers thus ensuring that RTT retains customers
Protect and control proprietary and customer sensitive materials and trade secrets
Review logistics performance with customers against targets, benchmarks and service agreement


Human Resource Management
Set performance objectives for employees
Ensure that all employees have signed performance agreements
Conduct quarterly s all employees have aff appraisals
Put together action plans to address poor performance
Identify training needs of all employees
Ensure ongoing training and development of all employees

Produce Reports
Express report
Action the undelivered report every 5 days
ICG repor
Analyse the report on problems for the day
Staff register
