Job Title: Enterprise Architect – Portfolio Architect

Job Summary:
We have several opportunities for Architects in our Digital Products and Publishing & Content business areas – roles that will play a key role in our transformation programmes, including:

Delivering a uniquely personalized learning experience system using AI, to improve children’s learning methods in our Education division. OUP Education supports children of all ages with world leading educational content.
Delivering a uniquely personalized learning experience system using AI, to improve children’s learning methods in our Education division. OUP Education supports children of all ages with world leading educational content.
Digitized voice recognition to enable superior learning assessments in our ELT (English Language Teaching) division. ELT is global leader in the publishing of English language teaching materials.
Digitizing our editing process to provide more accessible world changing content for our Academic division, who publish ground breaking content.
Designing BlockChain systems, Machine Learning, AI and Automation to support digital rights management as part of our digital journey.

We have two roles available; one aligned with our Education division and one aligned with our ELT division.
Key duties of this position will include:
Engaging with key business stakeholders, understanding their longer-term needs, goals and objectives, aligning and shaping those aspirations against the Target Architecture and Roadmaps – supported by appropriate principles, standards, and patterns.
Engaging and negotiating with senior decision-makers in a way that they can understand and without confusing technical jargon.
Defining and driving forward effective technology strategies that lead to positive business outcomes, and implemented in line with the strategic needs of the business.
Define the Target Architecture, coupled with agreed Roadmaps and Transition Plans for its evolution, setting the recommended direction and working with the relevant parties to drive the architecture into production through major programmes, and via active but pragmatic Governance.
Drive the evolution of capability for the domain you’re aligned to, at a strategic level, to support the move to a data- and information-driven business.
Acting as a bridge between key business stakeholders and senior technology stakeholders, to ensure the evolution of the defined Data & Information strategy.
Although we’re all currently working from home, we are thinking through how we use our offices in the future, and are open to discussing flexibility within this, such as a blend of office and home working.
Requirements
You’re a highly experienced Architect, with the gravitas to engage and influence senior business and technology stakeholders. You will need to use business-centric language and concepts to drive forward the architecture agenda; and as such, you will know your domain inside out. You’ll enjoy a challenge and will be comfortable driving forward strategies to ensure tangible business outcomes.

Significant experience of working with senior stakeholders to create a trusted partnership for mutual benefit.
First-class skills and significant experience in the definition of Architectural artefacts e.g. architectural models, roadmaps, strategies, principles, standards, patterns etc.
Experience of leading technology and architecture change programmes in a data driven business.
Prior experience as a successful Enterprise Architect supporting a data driven business.
The ability to approach architecture governance with flexibility – ensuring the right business outcome.
Experience of working with, and ideally a certification in TOGAF, Zachman, or similar.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; especially senior stakeholder presentations
