Philani Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition Project has been addressing maternal and child health problems in the informal settlements surrounding Cape Town since 1979. Philani’s programmes promote family health, focusing on the support of pregnant mothers, prevention of child malnutrition and the rehabilitation of underweight children. Job Title: Financial Manager
Job Location: Khayelitsha, Cape Town
Salary: Negotiable
Reports to: The Executive and Management Committee and ultimately to the Board
This is a permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- Financial management reporting (trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow forecast, variance to budget and donation / grant reports)
- Report to major Funders
- Prepare budgets on projects
- Provide financial information for funding proposals
- Staff supervision and training
- Monitor all petty cash reconciliations
- Create payments of creditors
- Tax compliance: VAT and PAYE returns
- Asset register
- Manage external audit process
- Update financial policy and procedures
- Administration
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CIMA / CA preferred or a Post graduate degree / diploma an advantage
- Previous experience in the NGO and/or Health Care sector is advantageous
- Minimum of eight years’ experience in financial role and minimum three years in managerial role
- Experienced on Pastel Accounting and Intermediate Excel
- Experience in the NGO and/or Health Care sector
- Sound business and technical acumen
- Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels with clarity and precision
