A multinational ICT company is looking for a Director of Business Development to join their growing team. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for driving the commercial development and sale of new products and services to telecommunications providers across Africa.

Education:
A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Sales, Engineering, or related field, plus an MBA, preferred.
Skills/Experience required:
10+ years’ experience on the business development/sales side within the renewable energy, fibre, telecom network, and/or data centre fields
Experience negotiating significant transactions with telecommunications companies
Strategy and business development experience
Deep understanding of the power / renewable energy, transport / fibre, wireless connectivity / RAN, and data centre markets in Africa, including of the various players in the ecosystem and what their strengths and weaknesses are
Experience in leading and managing diverse, multicultural teams in a multi-national environment
Strong financial acumen
Strong appreciation for the energy, transport, wireless connectivity, and data centre markets in Africa
Job Description:
Lead all commercial matters relating to Platform Extensions on behalf of the Vice President, Commercial, and support the Heads of Product Line for Power, Transport, Wireless Connectivity, and Compute for all commercials needs they require, helping to take Platform Extensions from a “start-up” approach to get to “scale” within the first couple years
Understand customers’ needs related to Platform Extensions so well that you can articulate them more clearly than customers can
Support the Product Line Leads to develop the products and services that solve customers’ needs
Prepare and regularly update Platform Extensions marketing material to share with customers that is of the highest quality and clearly explains the value proposition of products and services.
Help define go-to-market strategy for Platform Extensions that have not yet been contracted.
Meet with and present to key customers about Platform Extension products and services to persuade them to expand their relationship with the company into these new product and service lines.
Negotiate with key customers the terms and conditions of Platform Extension-related products and services
Oversee the financial modeling of Platform Extension opportunities to ensure the assumptions used in and the outputs of each model align with best practices in the respective field
Secure all internal approvals required for each deal, including preparing clear, persuasive presentations for senior executives to review and approve each opportunity
