The Online Programme Success Tutor is responsible and accountable for the overall effective and efficient academic student support, success and retention rates of RC Distance students within designated programmes. Additional responsibility relates to the support of the IIE learning strategies to promote student engagement and success

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Programme Success Tutor-Commerce(Digital Business)
Location: Braamfontein Online Centre

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lecturing

Lecturing at least one module to a minimum of 2 groups online. Lesson preparation, marking and moderation as required.
Research

Minimum research commitment of an action research project dealing with Online related issues that have something to do with the RC Distance context.
At least one article in a given academic year is the minimum research requirement.
Lecturer Support

Conduct Lecturer Orientation/Induction sessions;
Peer Reviewing assigned Online Tutors
Conduct Lecturer Forum Meetings;
Attend Faculty Workshops;
Planning and facilitation of Online Tutor Programme meetings.
Co-ordinate subject specific Tutorials.
Ensure Online Tutors integrate appropriate student support services into the classroom based on learner needs
Peer Reviewing assigned Online Tutors
Student Support

Conduct student Orientation Workshops.
Conduct student Development Workshops (Plagiarism; Study Skills, Numeracy and Literacy Skills, etc.);
Plan and facilitate WRP/WIL sessions.
Participate in Online Town Hall Sessions
Conduct class visits and consult with Online Students as needed
Analyse and track student performance and implement appropriate interventions
Identify and implement interventions for At-Risk Students.
Integrate online student support services asynchronously and synchronously as required
Provide input regarding PIPO for specific programmes; Manage disputes and complaints between Online Tutors and students.
Staffing

Assist with the recruitment process for tutors for allocated programmes;
Person Description

Competencies:

Solid and proven management, administrative and/or operational experience.
Skilled in the use of telecommunications equipment.
Proven ability to present ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to provide constructive criticism and praise.
Ability to accept criticism and feedback.
Ability to conceptualise training programmes and goals.
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of supervision and personnel management.
Ability to analyse emergency situations objectively and make sound recommendations.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with Division, Brand and campus employees, training service providers and other regulatory authorities.
Demonstrated competence in being solutions driven.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Tolerance for operating in a pressurised environment and industry.
Oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in the use of Learning Management Systems
Good interpersonal skills

Desired Experience & Qualification:
Education:

Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in Management/Business Studies/ Information Technology/Digital Business
PGDHE or equivalent or Honours Degree in Education
Ideal

Registered Assessor
Registered Moderator
Work Experience:

3-5 years’ experience in the teaching and learning field, specifically lecturing in the tertiary environment.
An understanding of the current South African Higher Education regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges
