West Point Fishing Corporation is a Small Pelagic Fishing company based in St. Helena Bay, and seeking the services of a Fishing Fleet Technical Manager. The company’s main activities include pelagic fishing, fleet and pelagic fishing rights management.
Key Job Outputs:
- Ensure that company maintenance philosophy, policies and procedures are implemented and maintained on fishing vessels.
- Documentation and adherence to prescribed Maintenance systems.
- Ensuring optimum vessel utilization in terms of maintenance support.
- Ensuring minimum downtime of vessels and equipment.
- Ensuring maintenance costs are within budget; no wastage by engineering staff.
- Identify training and development needs.
- Optimise vessel fuel consumption and lube oil usage.
- Assistance and support in learnership programs for new recruits.
- Ensuring the availability and accuracy of maintenance and technical data and information.
- Ensuring vessel overall technical performance, vessel availability and utilization.
- Controlling vessel maintenance cost.
- Conduct variance analysis – budget vs actual on monthly basis.
- Support role in planning and execution of vessel re-fit/refurbishment.
- Analyse and interpret trends.
- Recommend and implement innovations and modifications to improve efficiency of vessels.
- Ensure adherence to applicable legislation and regulations.
- Recording and confirmation of specifications.

Candidate Requirements
Qualifications and experience:
- BTech Engineering, Marine Engineering or similar qualification.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as Technical Manager or Marine Superintendent.
- Experience in fishing industry will be an advantage.
- Excellent computer skills.
