Job Title: IT Technician
Location: Dube Trade Port Durban

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties:

Manually examine and repair computer hardware and peripheral components. (Same in OA)
Provide first line desktop support for production line and office based users – Printers, Outlook.
Support, manage and maintain LAN infrastructure, VLANs, TCP/IP, troubleshooting network related issues
Working with Active Directory
Assist with all IT Project roll outs including IT Security Improvement Plan and Infra Upgrades
Install and configure Microsoft applications such as Windows OS, Office 2016, Microsoft Updates, etc.
Liaise with IT service providers for rapid escalation for any network outages
Liaise with IT suppliers for ordering of IT peripherals and consumables.
Provide support to Network / Server Engineer
Installing of network printers, network cabling, handheld scanners and other IT hardware.
Test functionality and assess problems by operating computer systems or related.
Troubleshoot computer systems problems.
Take apart and re-assemble computer components and parts.
Manually set up computer systems and hardware, and install or re-install software programs for computer users.
Read and review technical support manuals or other materials.

Key Responsibilities:
Strong PC/ Laptop troubleshooting skills
Hands on experience with diverse computer systems and networks
IT planning Support establishing a short and long term IT strategy (ISP, Information Strategy Planning), discover new IT and conduct survey on trends, manage IT TCO (total cost) and establish a software/hardware standard governance.
Work closely with other supporting departments
IT system analysis and design – Support to innovate IT systems by analyzing the IT system, monitoring, tuning, and discovering areas to be improved based on the domain knowledge.
IT Infrastructure analysis and design – Support to implement an optimal hardware (server/network), considering various factors such as performance, scalability, cost, electricity consumption which are important for IT system operation.
IT security – Support to implement a security system by analyzing IT security-related technological trends such as virus, vaccine, security control, and firewall.
Project management Organization (PMO) – Support a project such as validating key IT projects’ architectures and checking development milestones.

Desired Experience & Qualification:
Minimum requirements:

Matric
National Diploma in Computer Science/ Relevant Information of Technology qualification
3 years related experience
Experience – Technical Understanding, Analyzing Information, Informing Others, Problem Solving,
LAN/Server Knowledge
A+, N+ advantageous
