Vacancy Details

An established and well known wine farm just outside Stellenbosch has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Health & Safety officer to join their team. A recent professional profile photo is to accompany your application.

DUTIES:

• Regular checks of documents and procedures
• Review, develop and manage all company health and safety policies
• Support and coach the staff with the latest health and safety legislation and regulations and increase H&S awareness at all levels within the Company
• Liaise with all government related bodies and regulating agencies alongside Production Managers and Management
• Arrange/ schedule quarterly meetings with Health and Safety Representatives and HSE Committee
• Receive HSE Representative inspection reports and document action lists based on risk of deviations identified
• Ensure policies are adhered to
• Assist with training needs determination based on HSE System and OHS Act requirements and monitor that training is up to date
• Give monthly reports on incidents, near misses, injuries and corrective actions taken
• Report incidents to Department of Labour on correct WCL documents where required
• Generate monthly dashboards and feedback on HSE compliance and deviations
• Work with appointed 16.1 and 16.2s
• Attend HSE internal compliance audits
• Review and document non- conformances
• Align policies with international standards ISO14000 and ISO45001 where applicable
• Manage and assist external audits by customers or authorities
• Assist in documenting incident investigations and report on all person injuries and critical incidents occurring to staff, contractors, visitors, identify route course and corrective actions where necessary
• Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed
• Review safety obligations of the clients, contractors and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement
• Ensure new employees are inducted on health and safety regulations
• Ensure safety signage and notice boards with postings are maintained
• Assist with emergency preparedness and communicate any emergency
• Perform self-audits and ensure compliance with the documented processes
• Review process documents and update and upgrade in coordination with the Management Executive
• Take responsibility for the development, co-ordination, management of processes and implementation of one or more specific areas of the HSE management system requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Safety Management
• 3 – 5 years relevant experience (in a corporate environment advantageous) on Occupational Health and Safety Environment
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office(Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams
• Must be available after hours
