The U.S. Consulate in Durban is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Computer Management Assistant in the Information Systems Center (ISC).

 

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Computer Management Assistant
Location: Durban

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Basic Function of Position

Under the supervision of the Computer Management Specialist, the Computer Management Assistant has daily responsibility for the maintenance, management, and administration of the computer and mobile device operation — addressing system security vulnerabilities and troubleshooting hardware systems issues and software issues, including all corporate applications, local databases, and spreadsheets. The incumbent also acts as the primary property clerk for unclassified Information Resource Management Assets and is the web master for the Consulate General SharePoint site.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
System Management and Operations (30%)
Respond to any IT-related customer requests and provide as assistance as needed; may include email, phone, myServices or walk in requests.
Provide OpenNet and DIN account support.
Administer the myServices, OPS, E2 and WinTA accounts (USG specific software).
Modify existing accounts to expand or limit user rights and tailor specific permissions.
Troubleshoot existing Active Directory accounts and Exchange/O365 mailboxes to ensure proper levels of access.
Modify security groups, distribution lists, file access permissions as and when needed, and proper approvals are granted.
Transfer accounts and assist users to prepare their accounts for transfer.
Monitors and reviews iPost and makes appropriate configuration changes, installs patches and update security configuration to meet DOS standards for OpenNet.

Software Applications (20%):
Provide support to software installed on peripherals (i.e., PC’s, printers, scanners, and digital senders). Applications include but are not limited to: myData, Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, SMART Client software, Cisco WebEx, Consular Applications, OTC, RFMS/C, and other approved software.
Provide support for software installed on mobile devices, including Office Suite, Authenticator, Citrix, Cisco WebEx, VMWare and VPN software, ILMS Mobile and other approved software.
Provides users with training and assistance for desktop and mobile applications.

Hardware and Infrastructure Support (15%):
Provide technical support for all Department hardware and infrastructure located at Post. Assist with troubleshooting, moving, repairing and configuring computers, printers, digital senders, mobile devices, and peripheral devices.
Responsible for understanding and adhering to all DoS and IRM security regulations and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
Load, maintain, and deploy images for current desktop systems.
Provide support for DVC clients, including providing dialing information, setting up conference room cameras and equipment and assisting with preparing presentations for display
Troubleshoot, replace, and repair minor deficiencies in ports, switches, and cabling.
Escort contractors who will be cabling or modifying infrastructure and they need to be able to recognize the basics of what should be taking place in these projects.
Manage telecommunications (including the local wi-fi network, Internet Service Provider, Satellite TV and phone) at the Consulate General’s Residence (CGR).
Provide technology set up for official events, including audio/visual and sound equipment.

Property and Asset Management (15%):
Has primary responsibility for property management for all unclassified IRM IT Assets.
Ensure all IRM assets are accurately recorded in the ILMS IT Asset Management Module.
Initiate all procurement actions for the IRM (Information Resource Management) section within the Ariba software.
Receive and record all IT assets following Department of State regulations.
Perform annual inventory of all IRM assets.
Record and maintain all loanable accountable assets (such as phones and laptops) in the IRM Loanable Property module.
Coordinate disposals of all IT assets.
Prepare all required property management paperwork including DS-127, DS-129, and DS-584 forms.

SharePoint Webmaster (10%):
Serve as designated web master responsible for the design, configuration and maintenance of post’s intranet SharePoint site.
Advises on material and links for inclusion on all SharePoint pages.
Coordinates closely with all sections to ensure accuracy and relevance of all material presented on SharePoint sites.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%):
Support special projects
Serve as backup Systems Administrator, Mailroom Clerk and Telephone Operator as required

Desired Experience & Qualification:
Education:

Two (2) years university or equivalent in computer science, network management or information technology.
A minimum of three (3) IT certifications such as: A+ Network+, Microsoft IT certifications, or other IT industry standard certifications are required.

Prior Work Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years working experience in IT fields (such as Help Desk Support, Hardware, Software or Network support, web design, cybersecurity, programming, software and hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance) is required.

Language Proficiency:
English level IV (Limited knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. (This may be tested)

Skills and Abilities:
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of three years driving experience.
Must have excellent technical and troubleshooting skills in order to diagnose and resolve hardware or software problems.
S/he must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with other IT staff to accomplish daily tasks.
Must have basic knowledge and abilities for standard office computer programs such as MS Office, email, etc.
Necessary manual dexterity to install and remove small computer parts within confined spaces. Must be able to pickup and move equipment weighing up to 25 kgs.

Package & Remuneration:
Basic Salary: R383,857.00 per annum
