Job Summary:
The role often supervises and control duty shifts: continuously monitor and impart day to day training of security personnel, in order to comply at all times with all relevant national and international aviation security regulations. It reflects the exceptional security and customer service skills required to ensure that passengers have a secure, safe and efficient passage within an efficient and friendly environment.
Provide operational security and safety support services and sometimes act as first-line lead for transactional operations area. Using existing systems and protocols.
Coordinate and assist law enforcement agencies in case of security emergencies like bomb threats and hijacks and ensures the aircraft is escorted to a designated isolated parking position and its subsequent search.
Ensures that there is no mixing of screened and unscreened passengers/airport personnel and if mixing does occur, all affected passengers are re-screened before being allowed to board the aircraft
Keeps the senior officers informed of all occurrences/incidents/security threats/violation of security rules on day to day basis.
Investigates Security incidents, accidents, violations/breaches and submit reports on time to Security Manager or his designate for appropriate action.
Ensures proper implementation of recommended security measures during heightened security.
Evaluates and recommends appropriate security measures for high risk flights and/or during increased threats.
Supervises hold baggage screening and protection against unauthorized access and ensures that baggage is escorted to and from the aircraft.
Complies with Quality and Safety Management policies and procedures in all activities undertaken in order to minimise unsafe incidents and accidents
Participates in all pre-tasks hazard identifications and risk assessment
Coordinates emergency response functions during an incident/accident.
Cordons off incident/accident site during aircraft emergency.
Performs Customer Services Agent’s duties as and when required to support staff and expedite flight turnaround
Implements audits and ensures compliance with Customer Airlines’ safety and security programmes in conformance/compliance with IOSA standards, CAAB and destination stations’ regulatory frameworks.
Ensures that all safety and loss control standards (Safety, Health and Environmental) contained in the Corporation’s standards are adhered to.
Enforce compliance to health, safety and/or security standards in the workplace
Investigate root causes of breaches in safety and/or security standards
Carry out safety and/or security checks in the workplace
Maintains continuous improvement mindset to improve SSQS and/or risk in the own are of work and related workplace
Assists with staff conflicts, grievances and disputes
Provide and/or Conduct On-The-Job Security trainings (Mandatory/Non-Mandatory) to enhance capabilities across the organization
Provides support to implementation of Business Change initiatives and projects to ensure successful delivery.
Tracks and reports on the risk register or control process. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
Adheres to the SOPs and related regulations as stipulated by the regulator
Achieve full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in operations and area of work (Security and Safety)
Audits compliance:
Plans, Monitors and reports on own work and performance, including PDPs in line with Departmental Performance Plans
Supports the Department’s performance goals and takes corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of business objectives
Takes corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of business objectives;
Provide periodic and ad-hoc reports on relevant and key metrics on the Airlines Security services programme.
Requirements:
Minimum Education Required:
•A recognized Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Social Sciences or equivalent plus relevant tertiary qualification in Aviation Security.
•Undergone ICAO/IATA approved Security Management Systems Course or equivalent would be an added advantage
Minimum Experience Required:
•At least four years (4) post qualification experience, of which two (2) years should have been at Supervisory level in a similar role or related field.
•Knowledge of Security, Safety, Passenger and Cargo Handling as well as experience in Ground Handling Services will be an added advantage.
