Job Summary:
You will be responsible for:
-Develop the content of research and methodology:
-Data gathering, analysis, reports; Use appropriate research tools and techniques; Develop templates for administrative analysis;
-Monitor the impact of the Act, research developments and recommend policy options to improve the regulatory environment;
-Conduct research to inform appropriate national health policy interventions to ensure compliance; and
-Conduct appropriate research with regards to new health technology and treatment modalities where applicable to clinical opinions.
-Provide Clinical Research Administrative Support:
-Provide clinical research support to internal units with a view to resolve complaints and queries; and
-Maintenance of clinical complaint database, and production of quarterly reports.
-Ensure ongoing consultation with stakeholders:
-Oversee the PMB Review project to ensure compliance to the medical schemes act;
-Assisting with the development of common understanding of shared responsibility with regards to the implementation of PMBs;
-Facilitating queries regarding the PMB interpretation;
-Contribute to various media articles in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders; and
-Make presentations to various stakeholders and audiences on clinical related matters and provide training documents and manuals where necessary.
Requirements:
Skills and Knowledge Base – We require the following skills and abilities:
-Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology or Statistics or Demography or Public Health or Social Science;
-Postgraduate qualification at NQF 8 in Medical Sciences/ Epidemiology/ Statistics/ Demography or Public Health will be an added advantage;
-Five (5) years’ experience in Data Management, and three (3) years’ experience in research environment, private health environment and analysis of clinical and financial data;
-Advanced quantitative and qualitative research skills;
-Ability to use research tools (i.e. SPSS, Stata etc.);
-Knowledge of legislation impacting and influencing the functioning of the CMS;
-Knowledge of Evidence-based Medicine Principles;
-Ability to research clinical management of various conditions across various clinical fields;
-Knowledge of public and private health care including the NDoH policies and strategic plans;
-Knowledge of Prescribed Minimum Benefit regulations;
-Knowledge of coding classifications and coding rules;
-Ability to work under pressure;
-Effective communication skills (written and verbal); and
-Computer literacy – MS Office.
