Opportunity Available!! Our leading client in the FMCG Sector is looking to employ a Area Sales Manager to join their dynamic team in Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth.

 

Job Description: 

  •  The suitable candidate will be responsible for conducting sales reviews, assessing account performance, formulating promotional plans to meet or exceed set targets with all relevant sales teams.
  • The candidate will also be required to conduct promotional reviews and manage spends versus budgets and targets set as well as managing claims/ credit notes and sales forecasting per key account.
  • The candidate will monitor credit notes as per agreement, monitor pricing correctly at H/O, monitor strike rates to stores, check stock rotation as well as reporting all claims monthly.
  • The incumbent will conduct weekly trade visits to allocated area and regular appointments with store managers, staff, and merchandisers to build and maintain relationships.
  • The successful candidate will manage key accounts pertaining to his region.

Job Responsibilities:
Key Accounts:

  • Set up scheduled meetings with specified buyers.
  • Dealing with major customers:
    1. Maintaining & building good customer relationships
    2. Compiling and analyzing sales figures
    3. RSP & margin management
    4. Negotiate within parameters & accept accountability.
  • Increasing business opportunities through various routes to market
  • Service the needs of existing customers
  • Ensure claims / credits are forwarded to supervisor for approval.
  • Check & investigate all credit claims from finance (for RSM approval)
  • Collecting customer feedback and market research to keep you in the loop.
  • Reporting to senior management
  • New business development (including cold calling

 

Sales Agents:

  • Conduct regular trade visits with the agent supervisor/reps.
  • Participate on a regular basis in their monthly meetings.
  • Communication e.g., Low/Out of Stocks, trade reports
  • Evaluate promotional implementation.
  • Discuss store targets & sales performance.
  • Introduce new products and product information

 

Rep Management:

  • Setting sales targets for individual reps and your team as a whole
  • Recruiting and training sales staff
  • Allocating areas to sales reps
  • Developing sales strategies and setting targets
  • Monitoring your team’s performance and motivating them to reach targets.
  • Compiling and analyzing sales figures per rep per buying group
  • Keeping up to date with products and competitors
  • Conducting monthly meetings with Reps

 

Customers Relations:

  • Email customers on work related communication.
  • Inform customers of any stock shortages vs orders
  • Handle all related customers & HO Queries

 

Admin:

  • Respond to emails / tasks as per deadline date.
  • Updating ad hoc sales trackers
  • Check daily warehouse SOH reports -> advise Sales supervisor on any related issues.
  • Advise Sales supervisor of all related customer promotions, for stock replenishment.
  • Attending company meetings & internal office meetings
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Communicating important feedback from customers internally
  • Supply sales supervisor with oral & written report on customer needs, problems, interests
  • Remain updated with new products & key benefits.
  • Forward all stock forecasting to Sales Supervisor, received from related customers.
  • Submit monthly marketing presentation (based on trade displays achieved)

 

Job Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate must have a 3-year Sales and Marketing degree with at least 3 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Exposure to Navision system
  • Exposure in FMCG administration
  • The candidate must be willing to travel within the region.
  • Be a highly skilled communicator, negotiator and ensure customer service excellence is executed at all times in a proactive manner.
  • The ability to work independently in a self-disciplined manner and to deliver operational and administrative sales objectives timeously is a prerequisite.
