My Vote Counts NPC is a nonprofit organisation that improves the accountability, transparency and inclusiveness of elections and politics in the Republic of South Africa. The Organisation work to ensure that the political and electoral systems are open, fair and accountable to the public and that they remain relevant in the changing South African socio-political context.
Job Title: Communication Intern
Job Location: Cape Town
Start date: March 2019
Duration: Six months
The purpose of the position is to assist with social media and content creation across our various campaigns and events.
Responsibilities:
- Develop content plan with Communications Officer
- Develop campaign related content for website, social media and mainstream media
- Network with civil society organisations and media in and around South Africa
- Attend meetings and events as delegated by Communications Officer or Director
- Be willing to travel outside of Cape Town
Requirements:
- Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Marketing
- Proven written articles or other content (forward portfolio or links to your work)
- The ability to come up with engaging content and ideas around the work we do
- Social media experience
- WordPress or other web publishing skills preferable
- Interest in politics a must
- Knowledge and or interest in advocacy advantageous
- Interpersonal skills a must
- Ability to build and maintain relationships a must
- Proficiency in another language other than English advantageous
- Ability to work individually and in a team
- An out-the-box thinker and always willing to learn
- Respectable
- Willing to work longer hours when required
