Job Title: Brics Feminist Watch Coordinator

BRICS Feminist Watch (BFW) is an alliance of feminists from emerging economies that brings the collective strength of feminist analysis and activism to promote gender responsive and inclusive economic development. BFW members work towards advancing gender equality in sustainable development and make visible the linkages between gender justice, environmental justice, and economic justice including through addressing gender issues in all international financial institutions. BRICS Feminist Watch members have conducted research on gender and women’s rights within IFIs including the World Bank, IMF, and regional and national development banks. BFW has been engaged in discussions with the BRICS New Development Bank, whose focus is on renewable energy and infrastructure, to develop a gender policy, enhance transparency, accountability, social responsibility and diversity in Bank’s polices and all stages of operations.
The Role
BRICS Feminist Watch Coordinator will be charged with implementing the day to day operations of the BFW secretariat based in Cape Town, South Africa. The main function of the BFW Secretariat will be to provide support to the BFW Core Group (the governance body of the BFW) and the BFW membership. The initial staffing of the BWF secretariat will be comprised of the OZA Global Impact (GI) Manager and the BFW Coordinator. The BFW Coordinator will report to the OZA GI Manager and work closely with OZA operational teams for support in finance/grants management, human resources, logistics and communications. Both the BFW Coordinator and OZA GI Manager will receive guidance and direction from the BFW Core Group on coordinating the BFW secretariat operations and activities.
