A well-known fashion accessories business is looking for a Sandton based Planner and Procurement Specialist to join their team.

Their nationwide distribution has grown to surpass any other accessory company with listings in all the major retailers, independents and pharmacies. Position overview:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the planning and procurement processes within the Company’s accessory line and ensuring timely delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demand Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, sales, and marketing to develop accurate demand forecasts for fashion accessories based on historical data, market trends, and customer insights.
• Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory, ensuring the availability of products while avoiding overstock situations.
• Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Procurement: Source and procure materials, components, and finished goods from domestic and international suppliers, ensuring quality standards are met while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
• Production Planning: Coordinate with manufacturing partners to develop production schedules that align with demand forecasts and delivery timelines, optimizing efficiency and minimizing lead times.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and enforce quality standards throughout the procurement and production processes, ensuring that all fashion accessories meet our company’s quality requirements.
• Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions, such as sourcing alternative suppliers or implementing inventory buffers.
• Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to anticipate changes in consumer preferences and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with the merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to develop effective strategies for product promotion and sales.
• Travel: Attend trade shows, fashion events, and sourcing trips to stay informed about industry trends and developments.

 

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Skills required:

• Post Graduate degree i.e. Bachelor’s.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in demand planning, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the fashion accessory industry.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, forecast demand, and identify trends.
• Strong understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems, with experience in forecasting and inventory management modules.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take initiative to drive continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with inventory management software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel as needed
