Saide is a non-governmental organization conducting projects throughout South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Saide’s task is to contribute to the development of new models of open learning, including the use of distance education methods, educational technology and open educational resources.

 

Job Title: Knowledge and Communications Manager
Location: Braamfontein offices
Remuneration: Commensurate with skills and experience.
Employment period: Full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Saide’s knowledge management system and for the development and implementation of Saide’s communications strategy by ensuring that
  • Saide’s intellectual capital is regularly collated, integrated and made easily accessible internally;
  • All Saide documents are stored in an accessible internal knowledge management system;
  • Information about Saide’s work is shared effectively through various Saide electronic newsletters (using Mailchimp), websites and social media;
  • Saide’s knowledge products are packaged and disseminated widely;
  • Information relevant to Saide’s work is gathered from websites, newspapers and other social media, and curated for sharing with Saide staff and clients;
  • A digital library relevant to Saide’s work is curated and maintained, and a database of references for Saide and its key initiatives is developed and maintained.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to embrace open educational resources (OER) and become a knowledge hub in this regard.

Some of the above duties will be undertaken against Saide core budget and some against project budgets with specific deliverables.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in information management, information technology, library sciences, business administration or related fields. A Master’s degree would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of four years of proven experience in knowledge and communications management, organizational learning and data management. (Knowledge of SharePoint would be an advantage.)
  • Proactive self-starter, with excellent digital literacy skills, including of meta data, and preparedness to develop new skills in this domain.
