We exist for the purpose of facilitating access, sharing information, building capacity, raising awareness, enhancing reach and impact, and linking people and organisations through the use of ICTs in Southern Africa.

SANGONeT’s strategic focus areas include Information and Knowledge Bank, Capacity building, ICT Advocacy and Special Project.

 

Job Title: Civil Society, Information and Knowledge Bank Intern
Location: Braamfontein, Johannesburg
Duration: 12 months
Start date: February
Stipend / Allowance: R4 500

Responsibilities:

  • Desktop research;
  • Sourcing of content;
  • Communication with NGOs and other development stakeholders;
  • Updating content on the NGO Pulse Portal;
  • Updating SANGONeT social media platforms;
  • Support SANGONeT on queries relating to usability and display on the online platforms;
  • Perform any other tasks assigned;
  • Develop and publish a weekly online newsletter;
  • Receive, edit and post vacancies, opportunities, events and NGO services;
  • Market all services offered by the unit.

Requirements:

  • Graduate student, who has either just completed her/his studies or is working on her/his final research project, in one of the following areas: communication, social science etc.;
  • Keen interest in NGO and civil society issues;
  • Strong written and oral English language skills;
  • Knowledge of social media (i.e. Facebook and Twitter)
  • High level of computer literacy (MS Office);
  • Willingness to work independently or in a team.

This position provides an opportunity to learn about SANGONeT and the South African NGO Sector.
