The Manager for industry learning and capacity development will be responsible for implementing and developing industry-wide payments training. Main activities include developing programmes to meet payments capacity requirements for the financial services industry.

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Manager: Industry Learning and Capacity Development

Job Summary:
The Manager is also responsible to arrange conferences and seminars for the industry on topical payments matters, including PASA’s popular bi-annual International Conference (PIPC).
Key relationships include responsible officers and payments officials in major banks as well as financial services institutions. The incumbent is the entry point for industry wide training in payments and therefore liaises with top officials with regulators, government, and the industry.

Additionally, the PASA Executive Office staff also requires training interventions. The incumbent will assist with training design and delivery of identified internal training interventions.

Core Accountability 1: Learning and Development: (Industry Learning and capacity building):

•Structure and manage the training environment to ensure appropriate course design, design governance, delivery capability (e-learning or face-to-face), administrative and logistical support and establish required faculty and course delivery strategies.
•Liaise with member and non-member interested parties to promote and market training courses and/or any other industry wide development initiatives (e.g., internships; mentorships).
•Liaise with tertiary institutions and qualifications authorities to further progress industry wide capacity development initiatives and professional recognition for training.
•Responsible for the training budget and finances.
•Strategic alignment of the capacity building function with PASA mandate, vision, and mission (cathedral statements)
•Identification and development of new training programmes (E-learning and/or face to face programmes, as dictated by content and desired outcomes, Internship programmes, Mentoring programmes)
•Collaboration with educational institutions (example UNISA, GIBS, UJ Business School) to include payments training/material in existing or new programmes
•Establishing and fostering collaborative relationships with other industry bodies to further broaden the reach of payments capacity building (example BASA, Strate, BankServ Africa, ASISA Academy)
•Establish an Alumni programme that includes updates on new industry developments and involvement in developing new graduates (e.g., getting involved in internship and mentorship programmes)
•Manage and improve operational processes and procedures and delivery approach of existing training programmes
•Manage a faculty of trainers, presenters, and moderators.

Core Accountability 2: Conferences and seminars:

•Oversees the planning and logistics of industry wide seminars and conferences. May include national or international events.
•Facility selection, programme planning, speakers, exhibitors, and related logistics (menu, transport etc).
•Responsible for budget.
•Typically supervises exhibition and events team.
•Coordination and facilitation of PASA conferences and seminars. These events support and enhance PASA’s role and strategy to enhance payments industry capacity building.
•Coordination and facilitation of the PASA International Payments Conference (PIPC).
•Smaller boutique events such as conferences and webinars. These events bridge the gap and create continuity between PIPC events.
•Build and further develop continuous relationships with prospective exhibitors and sponsors
•Integrating students, graduates, and alumni into conferences and seminars by way of participation, attendance discounts or otherwise.

Core accountability 3: Learning and development: Internal training

•Advise and assist with internal training interventions to support internal capacity development and compliance requirements

Requirements:

Education and Experience Required:

•10 years hands on experience as a learning and development manager, with at least 5 years in senior managerial or general management role.
•5 or more years of experience in events coordination (seminars and conferences).
•Experience within financial services or banking.

Knowledge & Skills:

•Banking and bank payments systems participation knowledge
•Financial Industry knowledge and logic
•Legislation and compliance knowledge related to Payment Systems i.e., NPS Act, POPI Act, SARB Act, FSRA, Cybercrimes and Cybersecurity’s Bill etc.
•Coordination and management skills
•Financial Management skills and knowledge
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including report writing and presentations)
•Analytical and Problem-solving skills
•Leadership and Influencing skills
