Job Description

Job Title: Public Relations Account Director

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Account Director is the leader of the Account Management team and is the primary manager of the accounts held within the team. As such, he/she must recognise his/her prime responsibility for ensuring the quality of the agency’s product and for inspiring the highest standards in other team members.
  • The AD will work closely with the MD to attract and win new business that grows the existing consumer portfolio.
  • The AD is responsible for managing workflow and quality output of own work as well as members of their account management teams.
  • The AD provides leadership and mentorship to the members of their account management team, managing performance and assisting with skills development and career planning.
  • The AD is expected to build excellent relationships with clients, 3rd-party suppliers and with all members of the agency team for whom he/ she is responsible.
  • The AD’s leadership role on his/her business should contribute to the department and agency as a whole in a positive manner: by setting an example of best-practice PR account management as well as motivating and encouraging team members

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES REQUIRED

  • Relevant PR Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or Degree)
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years experience in a PR agency
  • Strong knowledge of the PR sector
  • Extensive media relations experience and a good understanding of media landscape
  • Advanced MS Office skills, experience with Social Media
  • Strategic thinker with business development capability
  • Analytical, able to interpret data and develop strong and relevant assumptions
  • Commercially astute and switched on
  • Financial acumen
  • Creative and innovative, ideas-orientated
  • Strong creative writing skills
  • Excellent client-facing skills: personable, credible and establishes trust
  • Excellent client presentation skills
  • People and team management experience, team leader
  • Conflict management skills, negotiation and problem solving
  • Excellent English written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and self-management skills
  • Ability to manage stress and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel, valid driver’s license and own transport
