Senior Specialist: Cloud & Security at Vodacom

MAIN PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to effectively manage the organisations’ network services, in particular the Vodacom Business Customer X as a Service environment (IAAS,PAAS,SAAS), which include virtual servers in a multi tenanted environment. This will ensure that services that are sold to customers are provided to our customers are constantly available, secure and perform optimally at all times Also to ensure that appropriate security measures and mechanisms to guard against unauthorized access to electronically stored and /or transmitted patient data and protect against reasonably anticipated threats and hazards.

JOB OBJECTIVES
Provides 3 nd Tier technical escalation support to the 1 st Line Helpdesk and assess technology security risk periodically.
Plan, design and build the Enterprise core network. Also conduct functionality and gap analyses to determine the extent to which key business areas and infrastructure comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Development of equipment lists and solution documentation including HLD’s, LLD’s & SoW’s. Also to evaluate and recommend new information security technologies and counter-measures against threats to information or privacy.
Provide support to Technical Product development team to develop Enterprise products.
Researching and developing potential new products and services that can be sold to existing and new customers.

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of IP Networks.
Extensive experience in designing Data Centre server environments. Extensive knowledge of Storage network environments.
Extensive knowledge of trouble shooting and fault finding on a virtual server and network environment,
Knowledge of server Technologies such as VMWare and Microsoft Hyper V. Proven experience in performing a mentorship function to junior engineers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Matric (Essential)
Relevant 3yr degree/ diploma’s and certifications Vmware/Microsoft certifications essential
A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience: Working experience in a relevant role, i.e. server and storage technologies
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Telecommunications Industry
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Microsoft, Vmware, EMC, SAP etc
