Funda Wande is a dynamic not for profit program founded by the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Endowment  and  donor partners. We are part of an influential stakeholder network in South Africa and abroad. Working closely with government it aims to ensure that all children in South Africa can read for meaning (Literacy) and calculate with confidence (Maths) in their home-language by the age of 10.

We develop video and print materials  in all official South African languages to train teachers how to teach reading for meaning in Grades R-3 in those languages.

 

 

Job Title: Chief Operations Officer
Location: Cape Town
Salary: R650 000 – R950 000 depending on experience
Contract: Two Years with the possibility of renewal

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director this exciting new role will manage the day-to-day operations and the scale up of the program’s reach and impact. This includes oversight of Media Production, Learning and Teaching Materials Development, Finance, HR, and IT.

The successful candidate is a high-capacity generalist who works well under pressure, plans and executes systematically and has strong interpersonal and communication skills. They are confident, proactive, self-reliant and focused on performance. They enjoy developing processes and ideally have experience working in start-ups or fast-growing organizations.

Requirements:

• African home language (non-negotiable)
• Relevant degree
• At least five years’ experience in operations or general management
