Post : Video Camera Operators (56 Lieutenants), Job Section : Public Order Policing

Core Functions:

  • Operate video camera and related equipment to originate video material for crowd management/public order operational duties
  • Record relevant video footage of crowd management/public order situations as video evidence for research purposes.
  • Load and retrieve footage in the archive system
  • Record all crowd management events, capture audio visual material related to operations and/or marches.
  • Administer the process of video footage recording in terms of storage, presentation for evidence and review by senior management.
  • Record and process all operational video related matters that can be used as evidence in court
  • Compile tactical information regarding any crowd management events prior to the event.
  • Manage video library and registers maintained in terms of Media
  • Communication directives in SAPS.
  • Ensure serviceability of video equipment and accessories before and after use.
  • Manage all physical, human and financial resources allocated to the immediate environment.

Salary : Band C: R248, 337 per annum

Additional Requirements:

The following will serve as an advantage:

*Knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act No. 51 of
1977)
*Knowledge of the Law of Evidence Act, 1988 (Act No. 45 of 1988)
*Training in crowd management
*Relevant / appropriate experience
*Knowledge of the Crime Scene Management Policy
*Computer literatacy
*Must be able to work under pressure
*Willing to work additional hours.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The generic minimum requirements applicable to the posts, except where it is specified differently, are as follows: Applicants must display competency in the post-specific core functions.

*Be fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English.*Be a South African Citizen.

*Be in possession of a NQF level 6 SAQA accredited qualification (i.e. National Diploma: Video Technology / National Diploma: Film and Video Technology).

*At least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license

*Must have no criminal record or pending criminal / departmental or civil cases.

*Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
