The Siyazisiza Trust (Trust) is a nonprofit organisation that was founded in 1987. The Trust’s primary objective is to advance rural development by supporting food security and agriculture and craft enterprise development in rural areas.

Job Position: Executive Director
Job Location: Johannesburg
Salary: Package is negotiable
Report to: The Board of Trustees

Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • Lead fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource
  • Research funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders
  • submit proposals and maintaining fundraising records and documentation

Public relations, Stakeholder and Partnership management

  • Represent the organisation and its mission, programmes, products and services in a strong and positive light to stakeholders

Board Administration and Support

  • Support the operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing board members, interfacing between the board and staff, and supporting the Board’s evaluation of the Executive Director

Programme and Service Delivery

  • Oversee the design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programmes and Services

Financial, Tax, Risk and Facilities Management

  • Recommend yearly the budget for board approval and prudently manages the organisation’s resources within those budget guidelines and according to current laws and regulations

Human Resource Management

  • Effectively manages the human resources of the organisation according to authorised personnel policies and procedures
  • Ensure that personnel policies and procedures fully conform to current laws and regulations of both national and international standards

Leader

  • Advise the Board
  • Advocate / promote organisation and stakeholder relationships related to organisation’s  mission
  • Support motivation of employees in organisation products/programs and operations

Visionary / Information Bearer

  • Ensure that the staff and board have sufficient and up-to-date information
  • Look to the future for change opportunities
  • Interface between Board and employees

Decision Maker

  • Formulate policies and planning recommendations to the Board
  • Decide or guide courses of action in operations by staff (both office and field)

Manager

  • Oversee operations of organisation
  • Design and implements plans
  • Manage human resources of organisation
  • Manage financial and physical resources of the organisation

Board Developer

  • Assist in the selection and evaluation of Board members
  • Make recommendations, supports  Board during orientation and self-evaluation
  • Support Board’s evaluation of the Executive Director

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ senior management and leadership experience in the nonprofit sector
  • Working knowledge of the nonprofit sector legal and regulatory framework
  • Strong organisational and personnel management skills with an ability to prioritise and delegate
  • Ability to adapt proactively, relate for impact, make decisions and   achieve reliable results
  • Ability to speak publicly and to the media
  • Self-awareness, initiative, sound judgement, personal drive and flexibility
  • Proactive, energetic and innovative
  • Demonstrable integrity, passion, self-motivation
  • Willingness to travel within SA required
