Star for Life New Job Position Available

Star for Life (SFL) is a nonprofit organisation with the mission to inspire young people to value learning, acquire the knowledge and skills they need for productive work, and live healthy and meaningful lives. SFL has developed a unique set of programmes and workshops that we are currently running in 88 High Schools in South Africa and Namibia to add value to the regular Life Orientation curriculum.

Job Title: Social Worker 
Job Location: KwaZulu-Natal
Duration: Three-year renewable contract

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Primary schools.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate SFL wellness activities in line with the SFL strategic objectives
• Provide care, support and protection to learners and targeted communities in line with the SFL Wellness Programme
• Ensure that necessary materials for workshops are always kept ready
• Support the monitoring and evaluation of the programme
• Perform all the administrative and reporting functions required for the efficient performance of the programme

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social work
• Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals
• One to Two years’ experience in a similar or related position
• Training in HIV testing and counselling will be an added advantage
• Experience working with children and/or youth will be an advantage
• Valid Code 08 Driver’s license
• Fluency in English and any other vernacular language
• Report writing skills
• Presentation skills
• Ability to work under pressure in an emotionally challenged setting
